On Wednesday, April 15th, ARM-CO had the privilege of attending MODEX 2026, the largest manufacturing and supply chain event in North America. Held in Atlanta, the event featured more than 1,000 exhibitors and welcomed approximately 50,000 professionals from across manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, and automation industries.
MODEX is where companies go to see what is next. From robotics and smart material handling to AI-driven systems and warehouse innovation, the event gives attendees a firsthand look at technology designed to improve productivity, reduce strain on employees, and strengthen operations from end to end.
The ARM-Co team attended with engineering, account management, and marketing leadership on-site to evaluate emerging technology, meet with partners, and identify practical solutions that could benefit customers. For ARM-Co, events like MODEX are not about trends alone. They are about finding tools that solve real operational challenges inside plants and facilities.
A major highlight was visiting FANUC, where advanced robotic systems and the newest collaborative robots were on display. The team also visited Universal Robots, a respected leader in collaborative robotics. The stop carried added meaning, as one of ARM-Co’s own team members gained valuable experience and knowledge during time spent working with their technology. MODEX also showcased how broad the robotics world has become. International brands displayed humanoid robotics concepts, while innovative exhibitors demonstrated how automation can support recreation and consumer markets. One crowd favorite was a pickleball court from PickleRobot, proving that working with a robotics integrator can be both playful and engaging.
From MODEX to the Manufacturing Floor
Just days after MODEX, on Tuesday, April 21st, ARM-Co was back in the field, traveling to the East Coast to perform a robotics integration assessment for a steel manufacturer exploring automation opportunities.
Facility leadership explained a challenge many industrial companies face every day. Material was transported through the plant on carts moved by hand, with loads weighing approximately 750 pounds. Repeatedly pushing that amount of weight creates physical stress, fatigue, and lost efficiency over time.
The company wanted to explore how autonomous mobile robots, often called AMRs, could take over repetitive transport tasks and reduce strain on employees while keeping operations moving smoothly.
During the site visit, the ARM-Co team completed an operational review that included measurements, workflow observation, route mapping, and spacing checks. The purpose of the assessment was to determine whether robotic movement between work areas could be introduced safely, efficiently, and with long-term value.
Initial findings were encouraging. The facility had open travel lanes, workable clearances, and strong potential for robotic navigation. Because the operation spans multiple buildings, outdoor travel conditions were also considered. Weather, seasonal changes, and surface conditions all matter when evaluating mobile automation that may move between structures.
Automation That Supports People, Not Replaces Them
One of the most important conversations centered around employees. Leadership made it clear they value their workforce and wanted to ensure robotics wouldn’t replace their jobs. ARM-Co reinforced what many successful manufacturers are learning: the best automation supports people rather than replaces them.
Instead of asking employees to spend valuable time pushing heavy carts, robotics can handle repetitive transport work while skilled team members focus on production quality, machine operation, problem-solving, and higher-value responsibilities.
